SECTION TWO: Identifying method(s) of assessment and point of use throughout lesson--
Pre-assessment: As a class, begin the lesson by discussing about the beauty around us. Involve the students by asking them to discuss beautiful places they have seen in their own community. Ask them about the location and if it is natural or manmade. Then ask students to think about, identify and share about places outside of their community that are beautiful. Introduce the students to the seven natural wonders of the world.
Formative Assessment: Students will be expected to work independently and as a group in the participation of their assignment.
Summative Assessment: The students will be evaluated individually and as a group based upon their expertise and presentation of the group’s promotional video of their wonder from the seven natural wonders of the world.
SECTION THREE: Identifying the learning activities/instructional strategies and details as to how the lesson will be carried out--
Time Frame: 5, 45 Minutes Class Periods

- Collect important information pertinent to their topic using reliable sources on the internet.
- Select key facts from their information collected to be included in their promotional video.
- Create a promotional video for their wonder complete with a script.

- Students will enter the class and will sit in their assigned seats.
- As a class, begin the lesson by discussing about the beauty around us.
- Involve the students by asking them to discuss about beautiful places they have seen in their own community.
- Discuss that some unique landmarks are manmade, meaning they were designed and constructed by people. Provide examples such as the pyramids of Egypt or the Eifel Tower.
- Discuss that some landmarks are not manmade, but they were created by nature.
- Introduce the students to the seven natural wonders of the world.
- Ask them about the locations they had discussed and have them explain whether they are natural or man-made.
- Introduce students to the webquest they will be completing, which explores the seven natural wonders of the world.
- Provide the students with information on the assigned project/ missions.
- Divide the students into groups of three.
- Define to the students the responsibilities of each of the roles and the expectations.
- Provide each member of the group with a Wonder Journal, which will be used to document their information throughout their research.
- Each group will have to research one of the following:
- Grand Canyon
- The Great Barrier Reef
- The Harbor at Rio de Janeiro
- Mt. Everest
- Aurora
- Paricutin
- Victoria Falls
- After fulfilling their mission, each group will have to create a promotional video and present it to the class. (The video will be recorded by the teacher)
- The video should be five minutes long and should include the important information found by the research team.
- Students will be evaluated based on individual and group performances.
Transition:
- Students will enter the class and sit in their assigned seats.
- The teacher and the students will discuss about beautiful places in and outside of their community.
- The teacher will provide the students with their assigned natural wonder of the world, with information on the assigned project, and the requirements/expectations and their Wonder Journals.
- Students will take ownership of their project and complete each mission concluding with a promotional video, which will be presented to the class.
